8051winXL is a simulation program for visualising assembler code files in Intel HEX format for microcontrollers that use the 8051 instruction set. Generated HEX files can be opened, disassembled and analysed in detail.
Instructions can be examined both step by step and cycle by cycle. This makes the internal operation of a controller visible without requiring real hardware.
Registers, memory, ports and I/O models
The software keeps internal registers, external program and data memory, and the ports visible at all times. During cycle-by-cycle execution, data transfers inside the controller are shown graphically.
Simulated I/O devices such as switches, LEDs and traffic-light models can be connected to the ports. 8051winXL is therefore useful as a test instrument between assembly and download to the target system.
